Song: Violet Hill

Made by Maxime Legault ()

Hi everyone! So I made up this ACOUSTIC VERSION to help people who would like to play a
Coldplay song,
so it's not the album version (since it's basically a piano song...), but feel
free for any comments
or suggestions !!!
So enjoy!!!

EDIT AUGUST 11th 2010: Changed the lyrics, they are now accurate, they are from
Coldplay's official website.

EASY VERSION:

[Verse 1]

      Bm
Was a long and dark December

From the rooftops I remember
          G Em
There was snow, white snow
  Bm
Clearly I remember from the windows
                            G
They were watching while we froze
        Em
Down below

[Chorus]

          G
When the future's architectured
     A Bm
By a carnival of idiots on show
                 A
You'd better lie low
       G F#m D Bm A Bm
If you love me, won’t you let me know?

[Verse 2]

      Bm
Was a long and dark December

When the banks became cathedrals
      G Em
And a fox became God
 Bm
Priests clutched onto bibles

Hollowed out to fit their rifles
         G Em
And the cross was held aloft

[Chorus]

G
Bury me an armour
         A
When I’m dead and hit the ground
              Bm A
My nerves are poles that unfroze
       G F#m D Bm A Bm
If you love me, won’t you let me know?

[Solo]

Bm Bm G Em x2

(don't forget about the capo thing...it's 2 step higher so if you play without a capo, 3
a 5, 2 is a 7, etc...)

(3x) (1x)
e|--------------------------|-----------------------------|
B|-3p2p0-3------------------|--3p2p0-3--------------------| (2x)
G|------------2-----4-------|-------------2---------------|
D|---------4-----4-----2----|----------4-----4--9-8--7-(6)|
A|-----------------------2--|-------------------7-6--5-(4)|
E|--------------------------|-------------------7-6--5-(4)|

(the last chord is played the second time only, and the first
time, you just return to beginning of the solo...)

[Chorus]

        G
I don’t want to be a soldier
       A
Who the captain of some sinking ship
     Bm
Would stow
    A
Far below
           G F#m D Bm A Bm
So, if you love me, why’d you let me go?

[Outro]

          D G D Bm A G
I took my love down to Violet Hill
A Bm F#m G
There we sat in the snow
G A Bm Em D Bm A
All that time she was silent still
    F#m G F#m D Bm A G
Said if you love me, won’t you let me know?
F#m G F#m D Bm A Bm
If you love me, won’t you let me know?

All that time she was silent still
    F#m G F#m D Bm A G
So, if you love me, won’t you let me know?
F#m G F#m D Bm A Bm
If you love me, won’t you let me know?

So it's pretty much all there. For the distorted guitar fill during the verses (instead
playing the Em (and Em6 for the complex one)),
you can play the last 4 chords written in the "guitar solo"...

So enjoy !!! (and feel free for any suggestions)
